The pager went off twice yesterday. First time was 1415. Off down to the boat and launched to find a 5.5m boat off Pembles island. It had an engine that wouldn’t start.
Halfway up the Matakana river from the Marina we were stood down as they had managed to start their engine and all was OK. So, we went back to our berth, did the paperwork and back home. Thanks to Tim, Derek and Luke who all turned out.
The pager went off again just t as I walked through the door at home. So back down to the boat and the crew who were already there as well, Thanks to them for their understanding !
This time it was a 35 ft Kauri planked launch that was overheating. Off we went and found them easily, not far from today’s Bermuda triangle around Pembles island. We quickly hooked them up and a made quick tow to Stockyard Bay near to the Kawau Boat Club where we put them on a mooring and ferried them back to shore.
Then returned back home, keeping a good look out, as we were driving straight into the setting sun and a lot of sun strike.
Many thanks to Tim, Derek and Luke. Airberth Al also helped doing the launch and retrieval “stuff”. Great job from an efficient crew.
Editor's Note: The couple, (you know who you are! ) were very keen to be part of a write up for our Facebook page, and were disappointed that Thelma would not be writing it …. however we don't use names to protect your privacy.
