Our first call Christmas day was a false start when the "out of petrol" boaties were kindly towed in by other boats, meaning we didn't have to launch.
We lucked out though at 2130 last night with a callout to a 5m open Ali boat, broken down near Motuora Island.
Despite a wind warning being in force, it was a beautiful calm night on the water, and with some bioluminescence coming from our wake, a picturesque zoom to the southern end of Moturoa Island.
However, on arrival...there was no boat anywhere to be found. A radio call soon tracked them down a mile or so further south west and we pulled alongside once they'd retrieved their anchor.
Fortunately it was calm, as this boat had a very small towing eye, eliciting some muttering and contortions from Glenn as he got the carabiner into the eye.
A quick tow and the 2 fisho's and boat were pushed ashore at Hatfields Beach. We had a calm and speedy return to Sandspit, making it back to our berth to clean-
up just after midnight.
Hopefully the crew had a sleep-in this morning.
Thanks to Airberth Al for deflating us , Andrew, Neale, Glenn, Sean and Len for the seamless crew work.
