Wind wise

For those of you not in the know we had a callout on Thursday at 1648 to a 34 ft Yacht in Vivian Bay. After a bit of toing and froing, some people just finishing work others happy to cover, and some stuck in Auckland traffic, we assembled more than enough people to do the job.
The yacht was where it said it was and the issue was for a flat battery. We put our jump pack aboard and after a few minutes of turning over, the engine finally burst into life. Left the pack on to recharge and then all was good with the world.
We suggested they move to Bon Accord to sample the hospitality at the Kawau Boat club. I think they probably took up the suggestion as it would be much less exposed. We also discussed the forecast, and they agreed that possibly a later start than planned might be better.
We left the customers happy, with their engine running and recharging the battery. On the way home there was a good example of overfalls at the mouth of the Matakana River with the wind blowing in and the tide flowing out making some rough water.
Thanks to Rob, Bruce and Len for all coming out for what was a nice easy job. Airberth Al again let down the Airberth for us. Rob and Bruce then went straight into a committee meeting, as the unit doesn’t run itself. Bruce lives nearby and got them both food, while Len and I were home for around 1900.
