New Home for Kawau Rescue

Coastguard Kawau is excited to announce the relocation of our rescue vessel to a new home on Pier A10 in the Sandspit Marina. The boat sits on a floating Airberth lift which keeps the hull clear of the water and negates the need for anti fouling treatment to the hull. The Airberth purchase was made possible by generous grants from Four Winds Charitable Trust, Pub Charity and Coastguard NZ. The new home is a logical progression as we move from the tractor and trailer, beach launch set up, to a safe, secure and more reliable operation. Importantly, our callout response times have been reduced. We will retain our storage and office facility in the compound area adjacent to the Sandspit carpark. The relocation is supported by Coastguard New Zealand and it’s a timely move in preparation for our future replacement vessel.
