Log in, on and off (out of the way)

Skipper Thelma reporting
Tuesday 6th January 2026
Although we were sent to 2 taskings tonight, we actually did 3, with the first being the retrieval of a large log floating in the middle of Kawau Bay. This beast wasn't something you'd want to hit at night, so we opted to collect it on the way out to our first tasking. (A family waiting patiently at Mansion House Bay).
The log was duly captured, but proved far too heavy to haul fully on board, so it came with us to Mansion House, strapped to the rear of the boat.
On arriving at Mansion House, there was a bit of team building by our crew, and the boaties we were coming to assist plus a couple of other keen guys saw it dragged up above the high tide line out of harm's way.
Then to the matter in hand - trying to find an electrical fault with a Rayglass, with 2 families on board. After quite a bit of poking about, we couldn't find the likely fault, so opted to tow the boat back to Sandspit, with 5 kids and one adult jumping aboard KR for the trip. The kids definitely kept the crew entertained!
As we departed Mansion House, Ops called to say we had another customer waiting for a tow as well, so after spotting it on our way to Sandspit, we dropped off the Rayglass and returned to where we'd previously spotted the Surtees. As it was drifting, it had moved a bit further away, but had managed to drift over a good patch of snapper, so the 3 fisho's on board were quite happy.
By now, we were keen to get home before dark ( good try!) and have something to eat, so they quickly joined the "tow rope club" (after finally getting a hook into the towing eye) and zoomed along behind us to Sandspit. Back at the berth by 2130!
Thanks to Airberth Al for putting us in the water and crew of Dave, Neale and Dan. After a break of a couple of years, Dan is back on board and slotted right back in to maneuvering the jetboat like he'd never been away! Great to have you back!
